Description
Hello, and thank you so much for purchasing this pattern! This pattern includes 21 colorwork patches inspired by the absolute joy that was Our Flag Means Death. All of the patches are 25sc x 25 rows, and 5 inches x 5 inches big using DK/light worsted-weight yarn.

This version of the pattern ONLY includes the patches, which can be used as-is or combined with my Choose-your-own-patchwork Cardi/Sweater pattern. You can also check out the Yo-ho-ho Patchwork Sweater version of the pattern, which also includes made-to-measure instructions on how to recreate the sweater I made with these patches.

The pattern uses a number of more advanced-level crochet techniques, such as colorwork, and adding embroidery on top of certain patches. However, the pattern is detailed enough that I believe an advanced beginner should be able to follow it with minimal struggle.

I really hope you have fun crafting these patches, and that you enjoy the pattern! If you post your projects based on the pattern on Instagram, feel free to tag me (@rollingyarncrochet), I'd love to see what people make! :)

**Please note that this pattern is meant for personal use only and is the property of Rolling Yarn. Please do not share, rename, distribute or resell the pattern. If you'd like to make a video (on Youtube, Tiktok, etc.) showing your progress, that is allowed, provided no detailed steps are shown in the video. If you would like to sell finished products you make following this pattern, that is also allowed (if you are a small business), but please support and respect small and independent designers by asking for permission (you can drop me a message via my Ribblr, or on my Instagram @rollingyarncrochet) and by crediting Rolling Yarn as the designer, and tagging my Instagram when you credit. Thank you!

Yarns
You will need around 40 meters of DK/light worsted-weight yarn for each of the patches (this is an overestimation which takes into account enough yarn for tail ends for a secure weaving). The number of colors will depend on which patches you end up making and how many. Each patch contains a list of the used colors, the yarn brand and color code I used, and the approximate yardage per color within each patch, but I also list out the total approximate yardage per color used to give you an idea of how much yarn you would need per color if you were to make the whole collection.

Brands used: I used a combination of Paintbox yarns Simply DK (276m, 100g per skein) and Cotton DK (125m, 50g per skein), and Yarn and Colors Amazing DK (310m, 100g per skein).

Tools
A yarn needle to weave in ends. Scissors. FOR EMBROIDERY:

- An embroidery needle.

- Embroidery floss in black (dmc code: black, 310), white (dmc code: white), red (dmc code: red, 321), green (dmc code: pistachio green, 368), light grey (dmc code: silver grey, 168), pink or purple (dmc code: rose, 309), two tones of skin tone (dmc codes: desert sand, 3064, for the darker tone, tawny, 951, for lighter tone), golden brown (dmc code: old gold, 3829), ashy brown (dmc code: hazelnut brown, 420).

- I highly recommend using a stabilizer on the back of patches to ensure that the embroidery is secure and stable. I used some leftover non-stretchy linen fabric from some ripped trousers I had, but you can also buy any fabric that is not stretchy. I recommend buying embroidery fabrics like linen or monks cloth. Avoid stretchy fabrics like t-shirts or nylon.

- I also highly recommend using fusible interfacing to adhere the stabilizer fabric onto the patch so it is easier to embroider, but you can also just use some embroidery pins or needles to pin the stabilizer onto the patch while you embroider. If you use a fusible interfacing, you will also need an iron to iron the stabilizer, interface, and patch together.
FOR BLOCKING:

- a small tub (or you can use your clean sink, instead).

- a towel to dry off excess water from patches.

- something where you will pin down the patches to block. I used an old cardboard box, but you can also use some boards with a towel placed on top, or proper blocking mats if you have them.

- something to pin down the patches. I used some skewers I had around, but I recommend using thinner metal blocking pins.
