This pattern is for a small cushion cover featuring four beach-themed squares: a seashell, an ice cream, a sun umbrella, and a lifebuoy. Each square pattern includes a variety of colourway options to inspire your creativity, allowing you to personalise your cushion to match your style. If you have a particular favourite design, you can choose to make four of the same square rather than mixing designs. The squares incorporate a mix of crochet techniques, including intarsia crochet, working in the round, surface slip stitch, and appliqué. All techniques are fully explained within the pattern, providing a wonderful opportunity to explore and refine your skills.
Each square is the same size, measuring approximately 12x12 cm after blocking when made with DK yarn and a 4 mm hook. With the border included, each square has 21 stitches on each side plus 1 stitch in each corner, making them perfect for combining into larger projects. When you join four of these squares together, they match the size of the larger beach-themed squares available in my pattern shop, allowing for seamless integration in your projects. These squares are ideal for a range of designs, including blankets, tote bags, and decorative items. This pattern provides detailed instructions on how to crochet the squares, join them together, and create a stylish cushion cover that fits a 25 cm x 25 cm cushion pad. You can also purchase all of these squares, along with my larger beach-themed squares, as a bundle for my beach-themed blanket.
I have assigned an advanced-beginner skill level to this pattern. You should be able to read patterns written in English and be comfortable working in rows and rounds whilst maintaining consistent tension. Additionally, familiarity with standard crochet stitches, from single crochet to treble crochet, is required.
